А отчего в верхнем ряду по два гребца?
Взят корабль "среднего класса" с численностью экипажа около 200 человек.
Как считается, на нём гребцы сидели в два яруса: нижний - 50 человек (25 пар вёсел), верхний - 100 (тоже 25 пар вёсел), по два человека на весло.
Оставшиеся 50 - воины, они как раз помещаются на башнях и боковых галереях.
